This picture was taken the day I became 20 years old. I had seen better days - my birthday wasn't as jolly as it usually is.
We had some problems, but when I look back at this photo.. it probably wasn't so bad after all.

For the :iconfeedbackfrenzy: contestants:
Hi, everyone!
I have submitted this piece for the contest, because it's one of my best shots. I'd like for you to critique me on the composition of the piece and the editing in particular.
I hope, that - if you are good at managing cameras - you can tell me something about what you would have done, if you should take this picture since I don't know much about the settings.
I believe you can see my camera-data. Even if you don't know much about cameras, I would like to hear what you would have done, and how you would have positioned yourself. :glomp:

Hi! I'm participating in #FeedbackFrenzy and I'd like to take this opportunity to comment on your work. The first thing to catch my eye was the marvelous color palette, so full of summer sunshine, joy, and exuberance. Your framing and perspective enhances this feeling. The foreground flowers are well-complimented by the background sea of yellow and soft greens.

While I think that you have done an exceptional job by getting down on level with the blossoms, there is one thing that keeps drawing my eye. One stalk of grass stands as a single jarring note to an otherwise harmonious picture. Were it not so singular, it would likely fit in better. As it is, it pulls too much attention to one point, preventing the viewer's eye from traveling gently around the composition. This could be remedied with a bit of post-work in a photo editing program such as Photoshop. Otherwise, you might be aware of such a small intrusion, and nip it off before taking the photograph.

I think the impact of this piece is exceptional and the vision you have expressed with it is quite lovely. I look forward to seeing more of your work!

I'm Rick, offering a critique for the #FeedbackFrenzy contest. This photo is unusual in that the focal point is out of focus, and right at the center, defying the "rule of thirds". My eye, at least, is attracted to the dark area in the middle of the photo and specifically to the dark spot right above the grass (probably a bush in front of the house). That makes this photo a metaphor for life: the present is sharp (don't forget to smell the flowers!) while the future is fuzzy. At least that's what this photo says to me. I really like it!

Great composition here. Thanks to the gently sloping hill, it is perfectly balanced. Placing the in-focus flowers in the bottom third of the frame and using a side view tends to minimize the attention they draw, giving the eye permission to explore the abstract fuzzy shapes that really make this photo work. Color is wonderful: attractive and appropriate. The flat lighting (I don't see any shadows) combined with the slight telephoto focal length make for a flat image, with distance shown only by the narrow depth of field. This contributes to the overall effect; I don't think it would work nearly as well if the distant scene appeared very far away.

One thing that is mildly distracting is the light line just below the line of the hill. I can't tell if it is something in the original scene, or some artifact of post-processing, so don't really know what to do about it.

It's interesting that you ask what I would have done. I love macro photography, so would have probably spent my time taking close-ups of the pretty flowers and missed the great photo you captured here! Now that I see the idea, I'll try to remember to look for similar opportunities when I'm out shooting!! Thanks for sharing, and for entering this into FeedbackFrenzy.

Thank you very much for your thoughtful critique! I'm really glad that you found so many good things in this photo and that you make sense of it.
You've taught me a lot with this comment, and I'm glad if I taught you something as well! I see what you mean with the light on the hill as well. I haven't done much editing - only shapened it a little to bring out detail.. so I think it was a change in light in the original scenery, but before you mentioned it, I hadn't given it much thought.

I love these pictures. This one is especially gorgeous with the blurry background and few of the flowers on the foreground.
